On Friday, September 5, the Johnson Creek Bluejays defeated Westfield Pioneers 14-12.
It was a low scoring game with Johnson Creek’s defence totaling 4 interceptions in the game. With both teams being 2-0 going into the game, they were both trying to expand their winning streak to 3.
The first team to get on the board was the Bluejays when Owen Blakey (#24) ran for a 13-yard touchdown. That was all the scoring in the first quarter as the Bluejays led Westfield 7-0.
The only scoring in the 2nd quarter came by Westfield when William Gaylord (#7) threw a touchdown to Emmit Bourman (#23) for 31 yards at the 4:08 mark. The extra point was no good, so the Bluejays went into halftime leading 7-6.
Westfield came out of the half scoring at 7:22 when Gaylord threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Stolpa (#5). The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, so the score was 12-7.
