Johnson Creek Falls to Lourdes Academy (Football)

On Friday, September 12th, the Johnson Creek Bluejays lost to Lourdes Academy, 36-12, at Johnson Creek High School.
There wasn’t much scoring in the first half. The only score of the first half came in the first quarter at the 7:35 mark when Lourdes quarterback Brady Bauer (#0) completed a pass to Michael Santiago (#3) for a 40-yard touchdown. After the successful extra point attempt by Matt Yaggie (#23), Lourdes went up 7-0, which was also the score at halftime after a scoreless second quarter.
In the third quarter, Lourdes Academy struck quickly on its first possession when Bauer completed a 55-yard touchdown pass to Santiago for their second scoring connection of the game. Yaggie would add the extra point, making the score 14-0 Lourdes.
After Johnson Creek failed to score, Lourdes struck again at the 8:42 mark in the third quarter when Brady Bauer ran in a 10-yard touchdown. Following the extra point, Lourdes went up 21-0.
At the 7:35 mark in the third quarter, Johnson Creek fought back as Luke Hartz (#9) rushed for a 71-yard touchdown, making the score 21-6. Hayden Wagner’s (#21) extra point was blocked.
The Blujeays weren’t done yet. With 4:54 left in the 4th quarter, Johnson Creek running back Luke Hartz ran for a 68-yard touchdown, making it 21-12 Lourdes. Trying to get within a score, the Bluejays attempted a two-point conversion, but were unsuccessful.
In the fourth quarter, at 9:46, Lourdes Academy would slam the door shut when Brady Bauer completed a 58-yard touchdown pass to Lucas Neuens (#10). Then Lourdes Academy converted a successful two-point conversion, with Bauer completing a pass to Lucas Neuens, putting Lourdes up 29-12.
Later on, Lourdes would add to their lead. With 4:49 left to play, Brady Bauer rushed for a 60-yard touchdown, making it 35-12. Yaggie would add the extra point to seal the game for Lourdes, 36-12.
While the Bluejays fell short of victory, Luke Hartz put on an incredible performance, carrying the ball 21 times for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
The Johnson Creek Bluejays' (3-1 overall, 1-1 in conference) next game will be tonight, Friday, September 19th, at 7:00 P.M. at Palmyra-Eagle.
