Bluejays Cap Off Regular Season with Road Victory against Randolph (Football)

On Friday, October 17th, 2025, the Johnson Creek Bluejays football team defeated the Randolph Rockets, 20-6, at Randolph High School.
In the first quarter of the game, there was no scoring on both sides. It was a dog fight back and forth.
In the second quarter, the Bluejays popped off the first score of the game with :51 seconds left until halftime on a run by Luke Hartz (#9) for 11 yards. The Bluejays extra point attempt by Hayden Wagner (#21) was good, making the score 7-0. At halftime, the score was 7-0 Bluejays.
Most of the scoring happened in the third quarter. With 5:59 left in the quarter, the Bluejays popped off another touchdown as Luke Hartz ran in a 2-yard score. Following the successful extra point attempt by Hayden Wagner, the score was 14-0 Bluejays.
With 1:08 left in the third quarter, the Rockets scored their first touchdown with a run by Jared Buwalda (#3) for a 25-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion failed, making the score 14-6 Bluejays.
In the fourth and final quarter, with 3.51 left on the clock, the Bluejays scored again with a run by Owen Pernat (#18) for a 2-yard touchdown. Hayden Wagner’s extra point was missed, making the score 20-6 Bluejays. Johnson Creek would go on to win by that score.
For the Bluejays, quarterback Luke Hartz was six for six through the air for 73 yards. Hartz also carried the ball 22 times for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Owen Pernat had 14 carries for 129 yard and a touchdown. Defensively, Julius Cheaney (#8), Evan Malueg (#11), and Owen Pernat had two tackles each.
The Johnson Creek finished their regular season with an 8-1 record and earned the #2 seed in their sectional bracket.
The Johnson Creek Bluejays will play the first round of the WIAA Playoffs at home this week on Friday, October 24th, 2025, at 7 P.M. against Clear Lake (4-5 record).
