Bluejays Advance in WIAA Playoffs with win over Clear Lake (Football)

On Friday, October 24, 2025, the Johnson Creek football team began the playoffs with a victory over Clear Lake, 48-7. 

Starting in the first quarter with 10:26 on the clock, Owen Blakey (24) ran in a one-yard touchdown for Johnson Creek. Hayden Wagner (21) added the extra point, making the score 7-0. With 8:03 left in the first quarter, Luke Hartz (9) completed a pass to Evan Mauleg (11) for a 30-yard touchdown.  Hayden Wagner’s extra point was good, making it 14-0. With 5:16 left in the first quarter, Luke Hartz ran for a 59-yard touchdown. Wagner’s point after was good,  making the score 21-0. 

The Bluejays were done with the first quarter yet.  With 1:30 remaining, Hartz ran in a 6-yard touchdown. Wagner’s extra point was good, making the score 28-0. And with 0:16 left in the first quarter, Owen Blakey ran in a 30-yard touchdown.  After Hayden Wagner’s successful extra point, the Bluejays held a captivating lead, 35-0.

During the second quarter, both teams held each other scoreless, keeping the score at 35-0

Entering the third quarter with 7:50 on the clock, Owen Pernat (18) scored a 1-yard touchdown run.  The point after was no good, keeping the score at 41-0.  With 6:36 left in the third quarter, Clear Lake finally got on the board when Seth Cain (21) completed a 52-yard touchdown. Caleb Dixon (70) added the extra point, making the score 41-7.  Later in the quarter, the Bluejays struck again with 3:52 left in the quarter when Luke Hartz ran in a 39-yard touchdown.  Hayden Wagner’s extra point made the score 48-7. 

In the fourth quarter, Johnson Creek and Clear Lake were both held to no points, leaving the final score at 48-7.

The Bluejays will move on to the next round of the WIAA Playoffs and will host Potasi/Cassville on Friday, October 31st, at Johnson Creek High School.
