Potosi-Cassville ends Johnson Creek's season in WIAA Playoffs (Football)

On Friday, October 31, 2025, the Johnson Creek Bluejays were eliminated from the Level 2 WIAA Playoffs with a loss to Potosi/Cassville at home, 48-28. 

In the first quarter, with 8:46 left, Potosi/Cassville got on the board first with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Edge (6) to Hunter White (10).  After an unsuccessful extra point attempt, Postosi/Cassville’s lead was 6-0. With 3:54 left in the first quarter, Potosi/Cassville scored again with a 31-yard touchdown run by Hunter White, making the score 12-0 Potosi/Cassville.  The two-point conversion was no good.  

In the second quarter, with 10:05 remaining, Aaron Edge completed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Hunter White, making the score 18-0, Potosi/Cassville. With 1:26 left in the second quarter, the Bluejays finally got on the board when Luke Hartz (9) ran in a 1-yard touchdown. The extra point attempt by #21 Hayden Wagner was good, making it 18-7, Potosi/Cassville.  The score was as such at halftime.

In the third quarter, with 7:40 remaining, Luke Hartz completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Aiden Smith (1).  The two-point conversion pass from Luke Hartz (9) was complete to Owen Pernat, making the score 18-16.  Following a successful onside kick, the Bluejays took their first lead of the game with 7:28 remaining when Luke Hartz ran in a 45-yard touchdown. The extra point was good, making it 22-18 Johnson Creek.

It wouldn’t take long for Potosi/Cassville to strike back.  With 5:49 left in the third quarter, Hunter White ran in a 45-yard touchdown, making it 24-22, Potasi/Cassville.  The extra point was blocked.

On the next Johnson Creek possession, Luke Hartz fumbled, giving the ball back to Potasi/Cassville.  They would quickly strike.  With 4:27 left in the third quarter, Aaron Edge completed a 51-yard touchdown pass to Hunter White.  The two-point conversion was good, making the score 32-22, Potosi/Cassville.  

The Bluejays would go three and out on their next drive, opening the door for Potosi/Cassville to strike again.  With 1:23 remaining in the third quarter, Hunter White ran in a 76-yard touchdown on the first play of the drive, making it 38-22.  The two-point conversion was good, making it 40-22, Potosi/Cassville.

In the fourth and final quarter, the Bluejays would try to fight back, scoring with 9:42 left on a run by Luke Hartz for a 2-yard touchdown, making it 40-28.  The two-point conversion was no good.   Following the score, the Bluejays recovered a successful onside kick, getting the ball right back.  Unfortunately, Potosi/Cassville would sack Luke Hartz, causing a fumble that Potosi/Cassville.  Potosi/Cassville would capitalize with Hunter White running in a 14-yard touchdown with 7:02 remaining.   The two-point conversion was good, making the score 48-28.  Both teams would fail to score the rest of the game, making the final score  48-28, Potosi/Cassville.  

For Johnson Creek, Luke Hartz went 7-14 for 76 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball 21 times for 152 yards.  Additionally, Owen Blakley (24) had 16 carries for 56 yards.  Evan Mauleg also had 3 receptions for 51 yards.  

This marks the end of the Bluejays football season.  All-conference awards were also announced for the Trailways conference, all of which are listed below.
