Bluejays come up short against Cambria-Friesland (Girls Basketball)

On Monday, December 1st, 2025, the Johnson Creek Bluejays girls’ basketball team came up short in a Trailways South conference matchup at Johnson Creek High School against the Cambria-Friesland Hilltoppers, 43-34.

Cambria-Friesland got off to a hot start in the game by asserting its dominance with the full-court press.  The Bluejays would eventually push back, and by halftime, trailed by a score of 24-17.  In the second half, the Lady Jays made a big push, bringing the game within three at one point after back-to-back threes from sophomore Olivia Frey (23) and senior captain Alyssa Hucke (3).


However, Cambria-Friesland went back to the full-court press defense and made it difficult for the Bluejays down the stretch.  The Hilltoppers would hold off the Bluejays, 43-34.  Senior Enya Heller (55) and sophomore Johannah Weaver (34) both lead the way for Cambria-Friesland, scoring 12 points each.  Additionally, Weaver hauled in 10 rebounds, giving her a double-double for the game.  Furthermore, sophomore Rayna Helmer (5) added 9 points, and senior Ashley Ramirez (24) added 8 points.


For the Bluejays, senior Alyssa Hucke led the way, scoring 10 points.  Sophomore captain Lia Constable (12) also scored 7 points, and Olivia Frey notched 5 points.  The Bluejays also received great contributions on the boards from junior Lydia Wetzel (34), who had 13 rebounds, and sophomore captain Paige Swanson (32), who had 10 rebounds.


The Johnson Creek Bluejays' (0-2 overall, 0-1 in conference) next game is at home on Thursday, December 4th, 2025, at the Berres Fieldhouse against the Lake Mills L-Cats (2-2 overall, 0-0 in conference play).  Tip-off is set for 6:00 pm.

Deerfield started off with a three-and-out, having to punt the ball over to Johnson Creek. Johnson Creek Defeats Palmyra-Eagle in Trailways-South Conference Opener (Volleyball)

by Marlie Benz, Junior Writer The Johnson Creek Blue Jays beat the Palmyra-Eagle Panthers in four sets on Tuesday night at Johnson Creek High School.  With this being the season home opener and the first Trailways-South conference game, the Lady Jays and Palmyra-Eagle Panthers were overwhelmed with emotions.  In a wild first set, Johnson Creek lost 27-29 to the Panthers.  The Bluejays valiantly fought back to win the second set, 25-22. With a win under their belt, the Lady Jays pushed to the finish line with a 25-17 win in set three to gain some leverage on the Panthers.   With the possibility of playing two more sets, the Bluejays kept their foot on the gas and defeated the Panthers in the fourth and final set, 25-13. Nadboralski's First Place Finish Leads the Way for Bluejays at home invitational (Cross Country)

 by Sophie Morris, Sophomore Writer On Thursday, September 18th, the Johnson Creek Bluejays cross-country team competed at home in the Johnson Creek Invitational, with Lauren Nadboralski leading the way for the team, scoring first in the women's individual finish with a time of 22:00.52.  Moreover, Kiara Dach finished 4th, closely behind Lauren, with an exceptional time of 24:51.17. Sophia Le finished in 14th with a time of 30:12.49, and Madeleine Lira Esteves finished 16th with a time of 31:37.72. For the Johnson Creek men’s team, they powered through and finished 4th with a team score of 62.
