Bluejays defeat Palmyra-Eagle for first season win (Girls Basketball)

JOHNSON CREEK - On Friday, December 12th, 2025, the Johnson Creek Bluejays girls' basketball team got its first win of the season, defeating the Palmyra-Eagle Panthers in a Trailways South conference matchup, 46-31.

In the first half, the Bluejays got off to a hot start, controlling most of the half.  Unfortunately, the Panthers lost senior captain Bri Covarrubias (11) to an injury early on.  The Bluejays controlled the halftime score, 26-16.  In the second half, the Panthers closed the gap, but the Bluejays were not going to be denied.  They ended up pulling away for the victory, 46-31.


For the Bluejays, junior Lydia Wetzel (34) notched a double-double, scoring 12 points and snagging 16 rebounds.   Furthermore, sophomore Paige Swanson (32) had a double-double, scoring 10 points and snatching 12 rebounds.  Senior Alyssa Hucke (3) and sophomore Lia Constable (12) also added 7 points each.  


The Johnson Creek Bluejays (1-4 overall, 1-2 in conference) will travel on the road to face the Portage Warriors (0-3 overall, 0-2 in conference) on Monday, December 15th at 7:15 pm.
