Lady Jays Fall in Season Opener to Madison Country Day (Girls Basketball)

On Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, the Johnson Creek Girls' Basketball team lost its first game of the season against Madison Country Day at Madison Country Day School, 63-32.

The girls played this Trailways South conference match-up away, starting strong and holding their own. By halftime, the score was 42-23, Madison Country Day.   In the second half, Madison Country Day kept its foot on the gas, leading them to victory with a final score of 63-32.


For Madison Country Day, Zami Gary led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 9-of-19 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. She also contributed three assists and drove the team's offense. Lily Goeddel dominated the boards, pulling in 11 rebounds, including 8 offensive rebounds, giving her team many second-chance opportunities. Ashlyn Frazer added 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Sophia Roberts added 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. 


For the Johnson Creek Bluejays, Tori Buglass was the top scorer, finishing with 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Lydia Wetzel contributed 7 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, showing her versatility on both ends of the court. Paige Swanson had 4 assists without committing a turnover, and Elizabeth Lapp added 2 assists.


The Bluejays (0-1) will face Cambria-Friesland (0-3) next on Monday, December 1st, 2025, at the Berres Fieldhouse in Johnson Creek.
