Bluejays lose tight battle at Dodgeland (Boys Basketball)

JUNEAU - On Friday, December 12th, 2025, the Johnson Creek Bluejays boys basketball lost a non-conference matchup against the Dodgeland Trojans (1-3) at Dodgeland High School, 74-71.

The Trojans outplayed the Bluejays in the first half, leading by a score of 37-33 at halftime.  The Bluejays battled back and even outscored the Trojans, 38-37, in the second half.  However, the Bluejays would fall just short, 74-71.

For the Bluejays, junior Kace Freimund (13) led the way with 20 points and 9 rebounds.  He was 8 of 10 from the field.  Meanwhile, senior Brady Fincutter (0) added 17 points, despite only shooting 30 percent from the field.  Furthermore, junior Jon Kamuchey (12) scored 10 points.

For the Trojans, sophomore Collin Krutchen (11) led all scoring with 21 points.  He was 8 of 13 from the field and 4 of 7 from three.  Sophomore Sawyer Ninmann (4) also added 16 points on 7 of 17 shooting and 2 of 4 from three.  Continually, junior Brayden Bunkoske (5) had 13 points and was 62 percent from the field.

The Johnson Creek Bluejays (3-1) will play at home in a conference matchup against the Parkview Vikings (3-1) on Monday, December 15th, 2025, at 7:15 pm from the Berres Fieldhouse at Johnson Creek High School.
