Bluejays come up short against Catholic Central/Kenosha Christian Life (Football)

BURLINGTON - On Friday, August 28, 2026, the Johnson Creek Bluejays lost to the Catholic Central/Kenosha Christian Life Hilltoppers at Catholic Central High School, 32-20.
In the first quarter, the Bluejays got off to a hot start, scoring 14 unanswered points. In the second quarter, the Hilltoppers began to rally, scoring 12 unanswered points of their own, making the score 14-12, Johnson Creek, at halftime.
In the second half, both teams struggled to get off their feet. The Blujays were held scoreless in the third quarter after struggling to hang on to the ball. The Hilltoppers capitalized by putting up six points in the third quarter, making the score 18-14, Hilltoppers, after the third quarter.
The turnover woes continued for the Bluejays in the fourth quarter, with the Hilltoppers once again capitalizing. Catholic Central/Kenosha Christian Life outscored Johnson Creek in the fourth quarter, 14-6, and would go on to win by a final score of 32-20.
For the visiting Johnson Creek Bluejays, freshman quarterback Jaxon Nadboralski (6) finished 11-for-19 with 103 passing yards. Additionally, Nadboralski carried the ball 31 times for 168 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. Furthermore, sophomore running back Christopher Cordova (31) carried the ball 16 times for 61 yards, and senior receiver Carlos Martinez (14) had five receptions for 58 yards.
For the home Catholic Central/Kenosha Christian Life Hilltoppers, senior quarterback Wyatt Leiting (12) finished 4-for-16 with 125 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Additionally, Leiting carried the ball 13 times for 99 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Additionally, junior receiver Austin Welch (9) had three catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns, while senior running back Sam Riehle (24) had two rushing touchdowns.
The Johnson Creek Bluejays (0-2) will head on the road this week to Titan Stadium in Oshkosh to battle the fourth-ranked Lourdes Academy Knights (2-0) in a Trailways Conference matchup, with kickoff at 8 P.M.
