Nadboralski, Cordova carry the Bluejays to victory over Deerfield (Football)

JOHNSON CREEK - On Friday, September 11th, 2026, the Johnson Creek Bluejays varsity football team defeated the Deerfield Demons in a home game at Johnson Creek High School, 28-14.
The Bluejays had a good start both on offense and defense, opening up with a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Bluejays maintained a good pace and scored one more touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion to make the score 14-0 at the end of the second quarter.
After halftime, the Demons tried to push back against the Bluejays by scoring on their opening drive. However, the Bluejays were able to answer, making the score 22-8 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Deerfield Demons were able to score 6 points, but they weren’t able to outscore the Johnson Creek Bluejays, who also scored 6 points in the quarter, making the final score 28-14.
For the Bluejays, freshman quarterback Jaxon Nadboralski (6) finished 3-for-6 for 26 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Additionally, Nadboralski carried the ball 30 times for 159 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Sophomore running back Chris Cordova (31) also played a heavy role, carrying the ball 32 times for 127 rushing yards, while tight end Brayden Deubel (12) had a receiving touchdown. Defensively, senior linebacker Carlos Martinez (14) ended the game with 9 tackles. He also had a receiving touchdown on offense.
For the visiting Deerfield Demons, junior quarterback Otto Ammerman (5) went 7-for-14 for 115 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and one interception. Additionally, Ammerman rushed six times for 50 yards and a touchdown. Junior wide receiver Zander Hart (1) also contributed, adding a reception for 51 yards and a touchdown.
The Johnson Creek Bluejays (1-3) varsity football team will be competing next on Friday, September 18th, 2026, at Johnson Creek High School against the Dodgeland Trojans (0-4) at 7:00 p.m. for Homecoming.
